How do I… Numbers and registration

Can I Use a Short Code?

MojoTxt doesn't offer short codes, the 5 or 6 digit numbers some texting services use. MojoTxt uses local and toll-free phone numbers instead. Your number belongs to your organization alone, so you never share it with anyone else.

Why a regular number works well

  • Only your organization communicates from your number.
  • You can choose any keyword you like, without competing with other organizations.
  • You can forward phone calls from your MojoTxt number to your regular phone, so people can call or text the same number.
  • You can add more numbers for different locations or departments. Your plan includes a set number of them, and extra numbers are $5 a month each.

What short codes do differently

  • Short codes are easier to remember.
  • Short codes generally send at a higher rate.

Do I need a short code for promotions or invitations?

No. You can send these from a local or toll-free number once it is registered. When you register with the carriers, choose Promotions & invitations as a message type. People must agree to marketing messages separately from other messages. MojoTxt's sign-up page takes care of this for you.

Sending to larger groups

A toll-free number can be a good choice for higher volume. Switching to a toll-free number is free, but each toll-free number needs its own carrier verification before it can send.
