How do I… Numbers and registration
Register Your Number With the Carriers
On this page
Mobile phone companies, called carriers, require every organization that sends automated texts to register. This tells them who is responsible for your messages, and it's a one-time step for your account.
Register your number
You need Account Settings access to do this.
- Open
Carrier Registration.
- Under Register with the carriers, press Register local numbers. For a toll-free number, press Verify and the number.
- Fill in the form. It is one page and takes about 10 minutes, so finish it in one sitting.
- Press Check and submit. We check your details the way carrier reviewers will. If everything looks right, we submit it for you. If not, we show you what to fix.

What to have ready
- Your legal name and EIN, exactly as the IRS has them
- A street address
- A live website
- The name and contact details of someone who can speak for your organization
- A support email address
- A description of what you text people about
If you have no EIN, you may be able to register as an individual.
Check your status
Your status is on the Carrier Registration page. We email you when your registration goes to the carriers, if we need anything from you, and when it is approved.
If the status says Action needed, read what we need from you and press Update and resubmit.

How long it takes
The form takes about 10 minutes. Carrier review usually takes a few business days, and sometimes up to two weeks.
What it costs
Your first registration is included, and toll-free verification is free. If the carriers reject an organization registration because the details were inaccurate, re-registering may carry the carrier's $4.50 fee. Businesses sending more than 6,000 messages a day can choose paid high-volume options, which the form explains.
If you add another number
A new local number joins your existing local registration. On the Carrier Registration page, press Apply registration if the number shows that button.
Each toll-free number needs its own verification. If you have both local and toll-free numbers, each kind needs its own step.
If messages are still blocked
Registration lowers the chance of blocking, but carriers still filter what messages say. See Fix Carrier Blocking.
