“God shapes the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.” - Mother Teresa
Prayer is so important that churches have entire teams dedicated to lifting people up to the Lord, intervening on their behalf, and petitioning heaven's help. We all know how powerful prayer can be in people’s lives and circumstances. Being available to pray for your members is one of the best ways to show your love and support to the people you are leading during times of stress and trouble. Here are a couple of ways your church can start receiving prayer requests via text message:
Option 1 – One-On-One Conversations
People can feel vulnerable when sharing a need, a hurt, or a difficult situation, so gathering prayer requests from people conversationally can make the process feel much more personal. By using our Conversations feature, people can simply text their prayer request directly to your MojoTxt number. When the message is received, we can pass it along to your prayer team via email or text, and automatically respond that the request has been received. Once you have read the request, you or another team member can optionally send a personal reply back to the requestor.
Option 2 – A Prayer Request Form
While not quite as personal as one-on-one conversations, forms are a more practical option for larger churches, or for cases where you’d like to offer other online pathways to submit prayer requests (think: your website, social media, email, etc.) If you don’t already have a prayer request form, you can use your church management software’s form builder, or another online form builder (like Google Forms) to create the form for you.
Once you have a prayer request form set-up, you can text-enable it by using our Auto-Responders feature. With Auto-Responders, you can create a keyword that folks can text-in when they’d like to submit a prayer request (for example, “PRAYER”). When someone texts-in that word, we’ll automatically respond with a message of your choosing and a link to your prayer request form. No matter what, night or day, your members will be able to connect to their church with their prayer request from their mobile device!
James said that the “heartfelt and persistent prayers of a righteous believer can accomplish much,” and that is absolutely true! No matter how you receive your prayer requests, a connection to heaven will be made. And that’s what it is all about, connecting people to God and connecting people to other people. Happy connecting! :)
